Internship Program

At Night Heron Media, we are always looking for smart, enthusiastic students who are interested in the book and media arts to help our team!

About the Internship Program

Our internship program is offered in the Summer, Fall and Spring semesters each year. It is 100% virtual, although we will have occasional in-person meetings with interns that are local. Due to the online nature of the program, hours are flexible and can fit around your personal schedule; we only ask that our interns commit at least 8 hours a week.

The internship is education and experience-based, and therefore unpaid, but we often work with colleges to allow interns to earn course credit. A typical day for an intern with Night Heron Media varies but can include:

  • Writing blog posts
  • Creating newsletters
  • Generating or aggregating content for our social media platforms
  • Reading and reviewing submissions
  • Copy-editing manuscripts
  • Writing dust jacket copy
  • Editing author bios
  • Public relations
  • Marketing research
  • Manuscript development research
  • Sales outreach
  • Fundraising projects
  • Event planning
  • Book inventory and logistics
  • Graphic design
  • Video production and editing
  • And much more!

Once we see you're a good fit for our team, we will schedule a meeting to go over your strengths as well as the skills you hope to gain or improve. From there, we will create a tailored internship experience for you, with tasks and projects specific to your professional goals.

Internship Requirements

  • Must be a current student pursuing an Associates, Bachelors, or Masters degree in English, Marketing, Graphic Design, Video/Film, or some other related field. (Recent graduates with degrees in the previously-mentioned fields are also eligible for the program.)
  • Must be willing to dedicate at least 8 hours/week toward the internship.

If you fit these requirements and are interested applying for our internship program, we encourage you to send your resume, cover letter, and any writing samples you may have for our review.
